About NoScript
NoScript takes the strictest approach of any browser blocker: JavaScript and other active content are blocked by default, and you allow them site by site for places you trust, such as your bank. That stops most ads, trackers and malicious scripts as a side effect, and NoScript adds strong protection against cross-site scripting and clickjacking. It is free, open-source software by Giorgio Maone and is built into the Tor Browser as a core security component. It runs on Firefox (including Android), Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers. The cost is convenience: many modern sites break until you allow the right scripts, and permissions need regular attention, so it suits security-conscious and technical users more than people who just want ads gone. Many pair it with uBlock Origin or use uBO's advanced mode instead.
Best for: Security-focused users who want scripts blocked unless they explicitly allow them.
