About Oracle APEX

Oracle APEX (Application Express) is a low-code environment that runs inside Oracle Database. Developers build web applications through a browser-based builder that generates reports, forms, charts, calendars, maps and dashboards from tables or SQL queries, then add logic in SQL and PL/SQL, with an AI assistant that can create apps and write queries from natural language. Because the apps live next to the data, they handle large datasets efficiently and inherit Oracle's security and scalability, which is why APEX is widely used inside companies and public bodies that already run Oracle for internal systems, reporting portals and replacements for spreadsheet or Access applications. APEX itself carries no separate licence fee: it is included with Oracle Database, on-premises or in Oracle Cloud, and there is a free hosted workspace for learning and an Always Free cloud tier. It runs in the browser and works on mobile. The catch is that it ties you to Oracle Database, and getting the most from it requires SQL and PL/SQL skills.

Best for: Organisations already running Oracle Database that want fast internal web apps.
