About Pika Backup
Pika Backup is a backup app for the GNOME desktop on Linux that aims to make regular backups as simple as plugging in a USB drive. Under the hood it uses BorgBackup, so backups are deduplicated (data that hasn't changed isn't copied again), can be encrypted, and live in standard Borg repositories. You can back up to local drives and to remote storage at the same time, set a schedule anywhere from hourly to monthly, browse the list of archives and pull individual files or folders back through your normal file manager. It is deliberately focused on personal data such as your home folder; it doesn't do full system restores, so people wanting system snapshots pair it with something else. Pika Backup is free and open source, developed within the GNOME community, and distributed mainly through Flathub. It's Linux only, with no Windows or Mac version, and offers fewer knobs than tools like Vorta or the Borg command line.
Best for: Linux desktop users who want easy scheduled backups of their personal files.
