About Duplicati

Duplicati is an open-source backup client that encrypts files with AES-256 on your machine and stores incremental, deduplicated backups on almost any destination: S3-compatible storage, Backblaze B2, WebDAV, SFTP, Google Drive, OneDrive, local disks and more. It runs as a background service with a web interface, so it works on desktops, servers and headless machines, and supports schedules, retention rules and email reports. The client is free; Duplicati Inc. also offers a hosted console for managing many machines, with a free tier and paid plans that add alerts, AI analysis and support. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Duplicati has a history of slow restores and occasional database corruption on very large backups, which recent versions have worked on, but it is worth testing restores regularly. It is a good pick for budget-conscious users comfortable with configuration.

Best for: Budget-minded users who want encrypted backups to storage they already pay for.
