About Podium
Podium is a customer communication platform for local businesses such as car dealers, home-service companies, medical aesthetics practices and retailers. Reviews are one of its core features: it sends review invitations by text message, collects ratings on Google, Facebook and other sites, and uses an AI assistant to write invites and replies. Around that sit a shared inbox for texts, calls, email and social messages, website chat that moves visitors to SMS, business phone lines, text marketing campaigns and Podium Payments for taking card payments by text. An 'AI Employee' answers leads and books appointments around the clock. The aim is to put every customer conversation and review in one place for a team that lives on the phone. Pricing is by plan and quoted through sales rather than self-serve, and it typically suits single or multi-location businesses in the US. It runs in the browser and in iOS and Android apps.
Best for: Local businesses that run on texting and want reviews, leads and payments in one inbox.
Pros and cons
What works
- Review invites by text, which customers tend to answer
- One inbox for texts, calls, email and social messages
- Payments by text built in
- Mobile apps for managing reviews on the go
Why people leave
- No self-serve sign-up or published prices
- Much broader than a review tool, so costlier if you only need reviews
- Aimed mainly at US local businesses
