About ProtonUp-Qt
ProtonUp-Qt is a small Linux app for installing community builds of Proton and Wine into the game launchers you already use. Steam ships Valve's own Proton, but many players switch some games to GE-Proton or other forks that carry extra fixes for video playback and specific titles. ProtonUp-Qt lists the launchers it finds on your system, including Steam and Lutris, shows which versions are installed, and downloads or removes them in a couple of clicks, so you don't have to unpack archives into hidden folders by hand. It also handles tools such as Luxtorpeda and Boxtron that swap in native engines for some games. It's free and open source under the GPLv3, written in Python with Qt, and distributed as an AppImage and on Flathub. It's especially popular on the Steam Deck in desktop mode. On its own it doesn't run anything: you still need a launcher to play.
Best for: Linux and Steam Deck gamers who want GE-Proton without copying files by hand.
