About Qwen Code

Qwen Code is an open-source command-line coding agent from Alibaba's Qwen team. It began as a fork of Google's Gemini CLI, adapted for the Qwen family of coding models, and has since added its own features: subagents, skills, an approval mode, sandboxing, headless and daemon modes for scripting, git worktrees, MCP and LSP support, scheduled tasks and integrations for VS Code, Zed and JetBrains IDEs. It can also be reached through chat channels popular in China such as WeChat, DingTalk and Feishu, as well as Telegram. You sign in with a QwenCloud or Alibaba Cloud API key or token plan, or connect other OpenAI-compatible providers, so costs depend on the model service you choose. The tool itself is free under the Apache 2.0 licence. It installs with a standalone installer, npm (Node.js 22 or later) or Homebrew, and runs on macOS, Linux and Windows. It suits developers who want to use Qwen models, and teams in China.

Best for: Developers who want an open-source terminal agent built around Qwen models.
