About Redmine
Redmine is a free, open-source project management and issue tracking web application that has been around since 2006. One installation can hold many projects, each with its own issue tracker, Gantt chart, calendar, wiki, forums, file area, news and time tracking, plus integration with version control systems such as Git and Subversion. Roles, trackers, workflows and custom fields are configurable, and a long list of community plugins and themes extends it further. It is written in Ruby on Rails and runs on MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite or SQL Server, so you host it yourself or pay a third party to do so. Redmine is dependable and very customisable, which is why many engineering and IT teams still run it, but the default interface looks old-fashioned and there is no official mobile app or hosted service from the project. It is released under the GNU GPL v2.
Best for: Technical teams that want a free, self-hosted tracker they can customise with plugins.
