About OpenProject
OpenProject is an open-source project management suite developed by a German company of the same name. It covers classic and agile methods in one place: work packages with custom types and fields, Gantt charts with dependencies, Scrum and Kanban boards, roadmaps, time and cost tracking, meetings, wikis and portfolio views across projects. Its main appeal is data control. The Community edition is free and can be installed on your own servers with DEB/RPM packages or Docker, and paid Enterprise plans add features such as advanced boards, single sign-on and support, either on-premises or in a hosted cloud with EU data centres. Public sector bodies and companies leaving Jira Data Center use it for that reason. The interface is functional rather than slick, and configuring types, workflows and permissions takes some effort. Pricing for Enterprise is per user per month with minimum team sizes. It runs in the browser.
Best for: Organisations that need full-featured project management they can self-host.
