About Smartsheet
Smartsheet looks like a spreadsheet but behaves like a project tool. Each sheet has rows and typed columns, and the same data can be shown as a grid, Gantt chart, card board or calendar, with dependencies, critical path and baselines for schedule-heavy work. On top of sheets you get forms, automated workflows, reports that roll up many sheets, and dashboards for stakeholders. Larger plans add portfolio management, resource planning and governance controls, which is why it is common in enterprises, PMOs, construction and operations teams moving off Excel. It is less pleasant for fast-moving software teams or anyone who dislikes grids. Pricing is per member with Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers and a 30-day trial; the old free plan is no longer offered on the pricing page, and many advanced capabilities are paid add-ons. It runs in the browser with mobile apps for iOS and Android.
Best for: Excel-heavy organisations and PMOs that want project plans in a familiar grid.
