About ScreenPal

ScreenPal is the current name of Screencast-O-Matic, a long-standing recorder popular in schools and with small businesses. It records the screen and webcam, includes a simple video editor and screenshot tool, and hosts videos with sharing links, quizzes and basic analytics. The free plan allows unlimited recordings but caps each one at 15 minutes and limits the number of hosted videos. Paid individual plans are among the cheapest in the category and remove the time limit, unlock the full editor and stock library, and add AI features such as auto-captions and filler word removal on the top tier. Team and education plans add central management. It runs on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iOS and Android, with no account required to start recording. The interface is functional rather than slick, and the hosting and interactivity features are less advanced than dedicated sales video platforms, but it is good value for teachers and anyone recording tutorials regularly.

Best for: Teachers and small teams who want an inexpensive recorder with editing and hosting.
