About selfoss
selfoss is a multi-purpose, web-based RSS reader and aggregator written in PHP. Beyond ordinary RSS and Atom feeds, it collects posts from other sources through plug-ins called spouts, so you can gather feeds and social streams into a single place, and you can write your own data connectors. It is light, at around 25 MB, installs by uploading the files to a web server, and works with MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQLite. The interface adapts to phones and tablets, OPML import brings subscriptions across, and a RESTful JSON API lets developers and third-party apps connect, with an Android client available. selfoss is free and open source under the GPL, maintained on GitHub by Tobias Zeising and contributors. It is simpler and less actively featured than FreshRSS, and some spouts depend on third-party sites that change often, but it suits people with basic PHP hosting who want a small, flexible aggregator.
Best for: People with basic PHP hosting who want a small, extensible aggregator.
