About Serviio
Serviio is a media server for streaming music, video and images to DLNA devices on your home network, such as smart TVs, Blu-ray players, consoles and phones. It uses device profiles to tune streams for each renderer and transcodes in real time when a format is not supported, handles subtitles, extracts metadata from files and online sources, sorts videos into movies and series, and can stream online sources such as RSS feeds and live streams through plugins. It is developed by one person, runs on Java, and is available for Windows, Mac, Linux and several NAS platforms. The free edition covers local DLNA streaming. The paid Pro edition adds access over the internet through its MediaBrowser web player and apps, plus extra sharing features, and every download starts with a 15-day Pro evaluation. Releases are infrequent, and the interface and app ecosystem feel old next to modern servers.
Best for: DLNA households who want reliable TV streaming with optional remote access.
