About SourceHut

SourceHut, at sr.ht, is a deliberately minimalist software forge. It is a suite of separate services: git and Mercurial hosting, builds.sr.ht for CI on real virtual machines across several Linux distributions and BSDs, todo.sr.ht for tickets, lists.sr.ht for mailing lists, a wiki-style manual service, paste and chat. Collaboration follows the classic email-driven patch workflow used by the Linux kernel rather than pull requests, which some developers love and others find unfamiliar. Pages are fast, work without JavaScript and contain no tracking or AI features. Everything is open-source software you can self-host. The hosted service is paid, with three self-selected tiers at low monthly prices that all include every feature, and financial aid is available for anyone who cannot pay. It is a hosted web service usable from any Git or Mercurial client and email.

Best for: Developers who like email-based patch workflows and fast, no-JavaScript tools.
