About Gitea

Gitea is an open-source, self-hosted software forge written in Go. It ships as a single binary that runs comfortably on small servers or a Raspberry Pi, and gives you a GitHub-like experience: repositories, pull requests with review, issues, projects, wikis, releases, a package registry for many formats and Gitea Actions, a CI system largely compatible with GitHub Actions workflows using the act runner. Migrating repositories, issues and pull requests from GitHub, GitLab and others is built in. Gitea is maintained by a community together with CommitGo, the company that offers Gitea Cloud as a managed service and Gitea Enterprise with SSO, audit logs and support. The open-source edition is MIT-licensed and free with unlimited users and repositories. Concerns about the project's shift to company control in 2022 led to the Forgejo fork, which some users prefer. It runs on Linux, macOS, Windows and Docker.

Best for: Teams and individuals who want a GitHub-like forge on their own modest hardware.
