About Azure DevOps

Azure DevOps is Microsoft's application lifecycle suite. Azure Boards handles backlogs and sprints, Azure Repos hosts unlimited private Git repositories, Azure Pipelines runs CI/CD on Microsoft-hosted or self-hosted agents for any language and cloud, Azure Test Plans covers manual and exploratory testing, and Azure Artifacts hosts package feeds. Teams can use the whole suite or individual services, and Pipelines in particular is often used with GitHub repositories. It is common in enterprises standardised on Microsoft, especially .NET shops, and Azure DevOps Server provides an on-premises edition. Microsoft is putting most new investment into GitHub, so the product evolves slowly and its interface feels more corporate. Pricing is generous for small teams: the first five Basic users are free, with a free Microsoft-hosted parallel job and a self-hosted one, and additional users, parallel jobs and Test Plans are billed monthly. It runs in the browser.

Best for: Microsoft-centric enterprises that want planning, repos and pipelines in one suite.
