About Argo CD

Argo CD is a GitOps controller for Kubernetes. You describe the desired state of your applications in Git as plain manifests, Helm charts, Kustomize or Jsonnet, and Argo CD continuously compares that with what is running in the cluster, showing drift in a web UI and syncing changes automatically or on approval. It handles many clusters from one install, supports multi-tenancy with projects and RBAC, single sign-on, sync waves and hooks for ordering, and rollback to any commit. It is part of the Argo project, a graduated CNCF project that also includes Workflows, Rollouts for canary and blue-green releases, and Events. Argo CD does only the delivery side, so you still need a CI system to build and test images, and it assumes you are on Kubernetes. It is free under the Apache 2.0 licence, with managed versions sold by companies such as Akuity and Octopus Deploy. It runs inside a Kubernetes cluster.

Best for: Kubernetes teams adopting GitOps for deployments across one or many clusters.
