About Octopus Deploy

Octopus Deploy focuses on the delivery half of CI/CD. It takes packages and container images built by any CI server and handles releases, environment promotion from development through production, per-customer tenanted deployments, approvals, configuration variables scoped by environment, runbooks for operational tasks, and audit trails. It deploys to Windows and Linux servers, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, which is why it is popular in enterprises that still run many VMs alongside containers, particularly .NET shops. Octopus acquired Codefresh in 2024 and now integrates Argo CD, so GitOps deployments can sit in the same release process as traditional ones. You can use the hosted Octopus Cloud or install Octopus Server yourself. A free tier covers a small number of projects with all core features; paid Professional and Enterprise tiers are priced per year by project count. It has a web interface with a CLI and API.

Best for: Teams with many environments or customer tenants who need controlled, auditable releases.
