About Statcounter

Statcounter is a long-established web analytics service, based in Ireland, known for its free invisible tracker and hit counter and for detailed visitor activity logs. It shows each visitor's journey, entry and exit pages, referrers, keywords, locations and devices in real time, along with summary stats, and has added session replay, click fraud detection for ads and other paid features over time. Many small business owners and bloggers use it alongside or instead of Google Analytics because it is easy to read. A free Basic plan covers a limited number of sessions per month with short log retention, and paid plans raise the traffic limits, extend history and add recordings. Its public global browser and platform usage statistics are widely cited. The trade-offs are an old-fashioned interface, tracking of individual visitors and IP addresses that is less private than modern tools, and limited marketing analysis compared with GA4. It runs in the browser.

Best for: Small business owners who want readable, visitor-level stats for free.
