About TeamSpeak

TeamSpeak has been a staple of gaming voice chat for two decades. Users join servers made of nested channels and talk with low latency and fine-grained permissions, and the newer TeamSpeak 6 client adds a modern interface, group and direct text chats, file sharing and 4K screen sharing. Unlike Discord, servers are not run by one central company: communities can rent official hosting or run the server software on their own hardware for full control and privacy, and businesses can build on the SDK. The client is free for Windows, macOS and Linux, with mobile apps available, while server hosting and commercial licences are paid. TeamSpeak 6 is still being rolled out in beta. It suits gaming clans, esports teams and communities that want reliable voice with control over their own server.

Best for: Gaming clans and communities that want low-latency voice on a server they control.
