About TonalEnergy

TonalEnergy, usually called TE Tuner, is a practice app that combines a chromatic tuner, a metronome and a tone generator with recording and practice-tracking tools. Its tuner shows pitch with an animated face that smiles when you are in tune, and the sound library can play sustained reference pitches and drones so wind, brass and string players can work on intonation by ear. The metronome handles complex meters and subdivisions, and the app keeps data on your practice so you can review it later. It is popular with band and orchestra programmes, and a separate education edition lets schools buy licences for students and manage them centrally. The mobile app is sold through the App Store and Google Play, including for Chromebooks. A desktop version for Windows and Mac is sold as a separate one-time licence that covers several computers.

Best for: Band, orchestra and choir musicians who want one app for tuning, drones and metronome work.
