About Lowcoder

Lowcoder is an open-source low-code platform for internal tools, dashboards, portals and even meeting or video apps. It was created when the community forked Openblocks after that project stopped, and has since added a large component library, responsive layouts and layers, JavaScript for custom logic, connectors for databases and APIs, workflows and optional AI-assisted building. Apps can be embedded into websites or other tools as native components, which is unusual in this category. The Community Edition is licensed under AGPL and free to self-host with Docker or Kubernetes, and there is no platform seat fee; an Enterprise Edition adds governance, audit logs and support, and a hosted cloud is offered too. It runs in the browser. It is a good fit for teams who want Retool-like flexibility without per-user costs, but the project is smaller than Appsmith or ToolJet, documentation can lag behind features, and support relies heavily on the community for free users.

Best for: Teams that want a free, self-hosted Retool alternative with embeddable apps.
