About Transmit

Transmit, from the Portland developer Panic, is the long-time favourite file transfer client among Mac web developers and designers. Version 5 connects to FTP, SFTP, WebDAV and Amazon S3, plus a long list of cloud services such as Backblaze B2, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, Microsoft OneDrive and Azure, all from the same dual-pane interface. It can sync folders in both directions, batch-rename files, mount servers as disks in Finder and sync saved sites between Macs through Panic Sync. The design follows macOS conventions closely and is noticeably more refined than cross-platform tools. Transmit costs a one-time fee with no subscription, after a seven-day trial of the full version, and it is also included with Setapp. It needs a recent version of macOS. It is Mac-only and closed-source, and the free Cyberduck covers much of the same ground for people who don't value the extra polish.

Best for: Mac web developers and designers who want the most polished transfer client.
