Screener vs TradingView
Updated November 2026 · AppBreakup editorial

Screener
Stock screening and fundamental analysis website for Indian listed companies.

TradingView
Charting and social platform for traders, on the web, desktop and mobile, with a free tier.
The short answer
Screener suits long-term investors in Indian stocks who screen on fundamentals and read ten years of financials. TradingView suits traders who want strong charts, indicators, alerts and backtesting across stocks, futures, forex and crypto in many markets. The biggest difference is focus: Screener is a fundamentals research site for NSE and BSE companies, TradingView a global charting platform.
Screener or TradingView: our take
Screener, run by Mittal Analytics, gives each Indian listed company a page with 10 years of financial statements, ratios, shareholding patterns, peer comparisons and links to annual reports and concall documents. Its query-based screener lets you write conditions such as return on capital above a threshold and returns matching NSE and BSE companies, and users share thousands of public screens. It has little technical charting. TradingView is the opposite: its charts come with a big library of built-in and community indicators, drawing tools, screeners, calendars, alerts and strategy backtesting, plus Pine Script for writing custom indicators. It covers stocks, ETFs, futures, forex and crypto, and has a social side where traders publish ideas. It claims 100 million traders and investors.
Screener is a website only, installable as a web app. Its free plan is ₹0/year with caps on alerts, followed companies and columns, and Premium is ₹4,999/year, adding AI summaries of company documents, commodity price trends and Excel export features. TradingView runs in the browser, on iOS and Android, and as a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux with multi-monitor layouts. Its free Basic plan needs no card but shows ads and allows one chart per tab; paid tiers go up to 16 charts per tab, and real-time data for many exchanges costs extra. Neither is a broker: Screener has no trading, and TradingView executes orders only through connected brokers.
An Indian investor picking businesses on earnings, debt and returns will get more from Screener. A trader timing entries with charts and indicators, or anyone following markets outside India, needs TradingView. Plenty of Indian investors use both: Screener to find and study companies, TradingView to chart them.

About each app
What is Screener?
Screener is a research site for investors in Indian stocks, run by Mittal Analytics since 2009. Each company page lays out about ten years of financial statements, ratios, shareholding patterns, peer comparisons and links to annual reports and concall documents, so you can study a business without assembling spreadsheets yourself. Its best-known feature is the query-based screener: you write conditions such as return on capital above a threshold or debt below another, and it returns matching NSE and BSE companies. Users share thousands of public screens. A free account covers most research, with caps on alerts, followed companies and columns. The paid Premium plan, billed yearly, lifts those limits and adds AI summaries of company documents, commodity price trends and Excel export features. It is a website only (installable as a web app) and covers Indian markets, not US or global stocks. It's a research tool, not a broker, so you place trades elsewhere.
What is TradingView?
TradingView is a market charting platform used by retail traders and investors to analyse stocks, ETFs, futures, forex and crypto. Its charts come with a large library of built-in and community indicators, drawing tools, screeners, economic and earnings calendars, alerts and strategy backtesting. Pine Script, its own scripting language, lets users write and share indicators and strategies, and the community side lets people publish trade ideas and follow others. Trading itself happens through connected brokers. It runs in the browser and on iOS and Android, and the desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux adds native multi-monitor layouts, symbol syncing between tabs and linked crosshairs. A free Basic plan with ads and one chart per tab is available without a card; paid tiers raise the number of charts, indicators per chart, alerts and backtesting depth. Real-time data for many exchanges costs extra.
