Arc has been discontinued. Sunsetting: no new accounts since 22 October 2026; the macOS and Windows apps stop working on 22 December 2026.

About Arc

Arc was a Chromium-based browser from The Browser Company that rethought the desktop browser around a vertical sidebar. Tabs lived in Spaces with their own themes and profiles, pinned tabs behaved like apps, old tabs archived themselves automatically, and features like split view, Little Arc windows, Boosts for restyling sites and a command bar made it popular with designers and developers. The company, now part of Atlassian, shifted its focus to its newer browser Dia, and Arc is being retired. New Arc accounts can no longer be created, Arc keeps working with basic updates until its shutdown date, and after that the macOS and Windows apps stop working and accounts are deactivated. Arc Search on mobile loses its AI features and sync, and the Android app will be pulled. The company provides an import tool into Dia and an export option for other browsers. Arc was free. If you still use it, plan your move now.

Best for: Existing Arc users who need to plan a move before the shutdown.
