About Bitbucket

Bitbucket is Atlassian's code hosting service and the natural choice for teams already planning work in Jira and documenting in Confluence. Branches, commits and pull requests link to Jira issues automatically, and deployment information flows back to Jira tickets. Bitbucket Pipelines provides YAML-defined CI/CD running in containers on Atlassian's cloud runners or your own self-hosted runners, measured in build minutes. Pull request features include merge checks, required approvals and code insights from security and quality tools. Compared with GitHub it has a smaller community and fewer third-party integrations, and open-source projects rarely live there. Bitbucket Cloud has a free plan for small teams and per-user Standard and Premium plans that add more build minutes, storage and controls. Bitbucket Data Center, the self-managed edition, is being wound down as Atlassian moves customers to cloud. It runs in the browser.

Best for: Teams that run their work in Jira and want code and CI tightly linked to it.
