About Barracuda Email Protection
Barracuda Email Protection is a bundle of email security products from Barracuda Networks. It filters spam, malware and phishing, detects account takeover from mailbox behaviour, enforces DMARC against domain spoofing, and keeps checking messages after delivery so it can pull back ones that turn malicious. It connects to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace through their APIs, so for the API-based parts you don't need to change MX records. Higher tiers add security awareness training with phishing simulations, incident response tools, email encryption, cloud archiving for compliance, and backup of Microsoft 365 data. It is sold by subscription per user, in plans aimed at both small businesses and MSPs, and there is a free trial and a free email threat scan. It suits organisations that want filtering, archiving and backup from one vendor; teams that only need basic spam filtering may find the bundle larger than they need.
Best for: Mid-sized organisations and MSPs wanting email security, archiving and Microsoft 365 backup in one..
Pros and cons
What works
- API connection to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace with no MX change
- Bundles archiving and Microsoft 365 backup
- Rechecks delivered mail and removes threats later
- MSP-friendly plans and management
Why people leave
- No public per-user prices on the product page
- Many separate modules make plans harder to compare
- More than a small team needs for basic spam filtering
