About Basecamp
Basecamp takes a deliberately simple approach to project management. Each project gets the same set of tools: to-do lists, a message board, schedules, documents and files, a group chat called Campfire and automatic check-in questions. There are no Gantt charts, story points or custom fields to configure, and clients can be invited into a project with limited visibility. The result is calm and easy for non-technical people to adopt, which is why it is popular with agencies, small companies and teams that mainly need to keep communication in one place instead of in email threads. Teams that need dependencies, sprints or detailed reporting will find it too thin. Pricing is flat per account rather than per user: a free single-project plan, several paid tiers that scale by number of projects, users and storage, and an unlimited plan billed annually, with a 30-day trial. It runs in the browser and has apps for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android.
Best for: Small companies and agencies that want projects and team communication in one simple place.
