About Checkly
Checkly is a synthetic monitoring service aimed at developers. Instead of clicking together checks in a UI, you write API checks and Playwright browser tests in TypeScript or JavaScript, store them in your repository, and deploy them with the Checkly CLI, so the same tests can run in CI before a release and then on a schedule from global locations in production. It also offers simple uptime monitors for URLs, TCP and heartbeats, traces for failed checks, alerting to the usual channels, and status pages. The monitoring-as-code workflow is its main selling point and fits teams already using Playwright for end-to-end tests. For non-developers, or for anyone who only needs basic pings, it is more than necessary. A free hobby plan covers personal projects, and paid plans are priced per month by check runs, frequency and locations. It is a hosted service.
Best for: Developer teams that want end-to-end and API checks managed as code alongside their app.
