About DataRobot

DataRobot began as an AutoML tool that trains and compares many machine learning models on tabular data, and has grown into an enterprise platform covering predictive AI, generative AI and AI agents. Teams can build models and agents from templates or code, try different LLMs and vector databases, deploy with one click and then monitor accuracy, cost and behaviour in production, with governance features such as access control, approvals and automated compliance documentation. It runs as SaaS or on-premises, hybrid, multi-cloud and sovereign setups, and connects to SAP, Snowflake, AWS and Salesforce. It is aimed at large organisations in finance, manufacturing, energy, government and life sciences that want one governed platform rather than many separate AI tools. There is a 30-day free trial; pricing beyond that is custom and sales-led, which puts it out of reach for individuals and small teams.

Best for: Large enterprises that need governed AutoML, model monitoring and AI agents in one platform.

Pros and cons

What works

  • AutoML, generative AI and agent building in a single platform
  • Production monitoring and governance built in
  • Deploys on-premises, hybrid, multi-cloud or at the edge
  • 30-day free trial with full platform access

Why people leave

  • No public pricing; enterprise contracts only
  • Heavy for small teams that just need notebooks or a single model
  • Product focus keeps shifting toward agents, away from classic AutoML
