About dbdiagram.io

dbdiagram.io, from Holistics, is a browser tool for designing and documenting database schemas. You type tables and relationships in DBML, an open-source database markup language, and an entity-relationship diagram appears beside the code as you go. You can import from SQL or existing databases, export SQL for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server and others, and publish read-only schema docs for your team. Newer features cover data lineage diagrams, sample data and a CLI for CI/CD pipelines. The free plan suits individuals designing schemas with public sharing; Personal Pro and Team plans add private diagrams, more editors, version history and admin controls, and students and teachers can get Personal Pro free for a year. It is focused purely on databases, so it is no replacement for a general diagram tool, but for ERDs it is much faster than drawing boxes by hand.

Best for: Developers designing and documenting relational database schemas.
