About EagleFiler

EagleFiler is a digital filing cabinet for the Mac from C-Command Software. You capture files, web pages, email messages and notes into a library with a hotkey, then organise them with folders, hierarchical tags, notes and smart folders, and find them again with a live full-text search. Its distinguishing choice is that libraries are ordinary Finder folders and files, so nothing is locked in a proprietary database, and checksums verify that files haven't been damaged. It is especially good at archiving large amounts of email: it can import from Apple Mail and Outlook and store everything as standard mbox files. Libraries can be encrypted with AES, and it can be scripted with AppleScript. EagleFiler is sold as a one-time licence with a free trial, and minor updates are free. It runs only on macOS, with no iOS app, web access or built-in sync, so people who need mobile access or AI-assisted organisation tend to look at DEVONthink instead.

Best for: Mac users who want a searchable archive of documents and email stored as plain files.
