About DocuWare
DocuWare is a document management and workflow platform from a German company founded in 1988 and owned by Ricoh since 2019, though it still runs as a separate subsidiary. Companies use it to scan or import paper and email, index documents automatically, store them in secure file cabinets and route them through approval workflows. Accounts payable is its best-known use: invoices arrive, data is extracted with its document processing tools, and approvals flow on to the ERP. It also covers HR files, contracts and quality records, and connects to Outlook, Teams, SAP and hundreds of other systems through connectors and a REST API. It can run as DocuWare Cloud or on your own servers, with web and mobile clients. DocuWare is sold mostly through a partner network and pricing is quoted rather than published, so it suits small and mid-sized businesses that want paperless processes with local implementation help rather than a self-serve tool.
