About Feem
Feem moves files directly between devices on the same Wi-Fi network, a phone hotspot or Wi-Fi Direct, without using the internet or any cloud server. Devices running Feem discover each other with friendly names, and you send files, folders or messages with a couple of taps; transfers are encrypted with TLS 1.3 and run in both directions at once. It has been around for years and has apps for Android, iPhone and iPad, Windows, macOS and Linux (via the Snap Store), which makes it a cross-platform AirDrop substitute that also works where there is no internet at all, such as on a hotspot in the field. The app is free to download, with an optional paid Pro upgrade; the free version shows upgrade prompts and ads, which some users find intrusive. Compared with the open-source LocalSend it is more polished in places but less transparent, since its code isn't public.
Best for: People sharing files between phones and computers on a local network or hotspot without internet.
