About Flux
Flux is an open-source set of Kubernetes controllers for GitOps. You point it at Git repositories, Helm repositories, OCI registries or S3 buckets, and it reconciles the cluster to match, applying Kustomize overlays and Helm releases, with drift detection, health checks, dependency ordering between components and image automation that can update manifests when new container tags appear. It is designed to be composed: each controller does one job, and everything is configured through Kubernetes custom resources and the flux CLI, which suits teams that manage clusters as code. Compared with Argo CD it has no rich built-in web interface, though third-party UIs exist, and it tends to appeal to platform teams who prefer the CLI and declarative configuration. Flux is a graduated CNCF project, free under the Apache 2.0 licence, and runs in any Kubernetes cluster.
Best for: Platform teams that manage Kubernetes declaratively and prefer CLI-driven GitOps.
