About Gogs
Gogs is a self-hosted Git service focused on being as easy and light as possible. It ships as a single Go binary or Docker image, runs on Linux, macOS, Windows and ARM boards, and can start on as little as 64 MiB of RAM. It covers the essentials: repositories with web browsing, issues, pull requests, wikis, organisations and teams, webhooks and SSH and HTTP access. Gogs is the project that Gitea forked from in 2016, and development has since been slower and more conservative than Gitea or Forgejo, with no built-in CI system, package registry or project boards. That makes it a good fit for small teams, homelabs and low-powered devices that just need private Git hosting with a web interface, and less suitable if you want a full GitHub replacement. It is free and MIT-licensed, and runs anywhere the Go toolchain supports.
Best for: Homelabs and small teams that just need simple private Git hosting on tiny hardware.
