About Google Cloud Build

Cloud Build is Google Cloud's managed build service. Builds are defined as a sequence of container steps in a YAML or JSON config, run on Google-managed machines or private pools inside your VPC, and can be triggered from GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket repositories, Pub/Sub messages or manual runs. It integrates with Artifact Registry, Cloud Deploy, Cloud Run, GKE and Binary Authorization, and can generate build provenance for supply chain security. Because it is serverless, there are no build servers to maintain and you pay only for build-minutes used, with a free monthly allowance on the default machine type. It is a natural fit for teams already deploying to Google Cloud, but it has a thinner developer experience than dedicated CI services: the UI is basic and test reporting and pipeline visualisation are limited. It is used through the Google Cloud console, the gcloud CLI and APIs.

Best for: Teams deploying to Google Cloud who want serverless builds with no CI servers.
