About iThoughts

iThoughts (iThoughtsX on Mac) was a well-regarded mind mapping app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows, popular with power users for its keyboard-driven editing, many map styles, task and progress fields, and wide import and export support. Its developer, the one-person company toketaWare, ceased trading in January 2024. The apps still run for people who already own them, but there will be no more updates or bug fixes, new licence codes and refunds are no longer available, and some users report that the iOS app can no longer be downloaded from the App Store. The developer notes that a future operating system update will eventually break the apps. Existing users can export their maps to formats used by MindManager, Xmind and FreeMind, and the native ITMZ file is a ZIP containing XML, so moving to another app is straightforward. New users should choose an actively maintained alternative.
