About LibreChat

LibreChat is an open-source chat platform that brings models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Azure, AWS Bedrock and local or OpenAI-compatible providers into one ChatGPT-style interface you host yourself. It is built for multi-user deployments, with authentication options, permissions, admin tools and moderation, so companies and schools often use it to give people access to several models under their own control. Feature-wise it keeps close to commercial assistants: agents with file handling and API actions, MCP servers, a code interpreter, artifacts, web search, memory and retrieval over documents. It installs with Docker, npm or a Helm chart. In 2026 the project announced it is joining ClickHouse, which should bring more resources but adds some uncertainty about future direction. Running it means managing your own server and API keys. The software is free and open source under the MIT licence, with hosted options from third parties.

Best for: Organisations that want a self-hosted, multi-user chat across many AI providers.
