About Memories for Nextcloud
Memories is an open-source photo management app that runs inside Nextcloud. It replaces Nextcloud's basic Photos app with a fast timeline, albums, face recognition (through Nextcloud's recognition apps), a map of geotagged photos, RAW and video support including transcoding, and a 'on this day' view. Because photos live in your Nextcloud files, the official Nextcloud mobile apps can auto-upload your camera roll, and Memories indexes them as they arrive. It is free and installed from the Nextcloud app store, with an optional Android app of its own. The appeal is that people already running Nextcloud get a Google Photos-style experience without a second server. The catch is that performance depends heavily on your Nextcloud setup, face recognition needs extra apps and tuning, and it inherits Nextcloud's maintenance burden.
Best for: Nextcloud users who want a proper photo timeline on the same server.
