About Offen Fair Web Analytics

Offen Fair Web Analytics is a free, open-source analytics tool built around consent and transparency. It only collects data from visitors who opt in, and those visitors get their own view of the data recorded about them, with explanations, plus the ability to delete it or opt out at any time. Data is encrypted end-to-end, there are no third parties involved, and it uses first-party cookies only. The site owner sees familiar metrics such as unique users, sessions, top pages, referrers, campaigns, bounce rate and retention. Offen is self-hosted, distributed as a single binary or Docker image, and was developed with support from the NLnet Foundation's Next Generation Internet programme. It suits organisations, public bodies and privacy-conscious site owners who want analytics that respect user choice by design. The trade-offs are that opt-in tracking means you only see a fraction of your traffic, there is no hosted version, and features are basic. Development is steady but small.

Best for: Organisations that want consent-first analytics and user access to data.
