About phpMyAdmin

phpMyAdmin is a free web application written in PHP for administering MySQL and MariaDB, and it is probably the most widely deployed database tool on the web because nearly every shared hosting control panel includes it. Through a browser you can create and drop databases, design tables and relations, browse and edit rows, manage indexes, users and privileges, run SQL with highlighting, and import or export in formats such as SQL, CSV, XML and PDF. It is translated into nearly a hundred languages and has extensive documentation. It runs on any web server with PHP and is also available as an official Docker image. The software is free and open source under the GPL-2.0, maintained by a community team. Because it is web-facing, it is a frequent target for attacks and needs updates and access controls, and its interface feels dated beside modern desktop clients, but for hosting environments it remains the default.

Best for: Site owners and hosts who manage MySQL or MariaDB through a browser.
