About PrestaShop

PrestaShop is an open-source ecommerce platform written in PHP, created in France and widely used across Europe and Latin America. You can download the source for free and host it yourself, or use PrestaShop's hosted edition for a monthly fee. It includes catalogue management, multi-language and multi-currency stores, and checkout out of the box, with a large marketplace of modules and themes for payments, shipping and marketing. It is lighter to run than Magento and does not require WordPress like WooCommerce. The catch is that many useful modules are paid, quality varies across the marketplace, and upgrading between major versions can break modules, so a developer is helpful. It runs on your own PHP hosting or PrestaShop's hosted service.

Best for: Small and mid-size European merchants who want an open-source store they control.
