About Quicken Simplifi
Quicken Simplifi is the mobile and web budgeting app from Quicken, separate from the long-running Quicken desktop software. It links bank, card, loan and investment accounts, connecting to more than 14,000 institutions, and categorizes transactions automatically. Its budget shows what's left to spend and save after income, bills, subscriptions and savings, and you can set custom savings goals and commit cash to them. Projected cash flow forecasts future balances from your income, bills and spending and lets you run "what-if" scenarios, and a newer retirement planner builds projections from your savings, expenses and planned retirement age. Investment tracking adds cost basis, performance analysis and real-time quotes, and there are pre-built and custom reports. It runs on the web, iPhone and Android. Simplifi has no free plan; it is sold as an annual subscription, currently advertised at $3.99 a month billed annually, down from a listed $6.99 a month. It suits people who want automatic tracking with forward-looking cash-flow planning at a lower price than many competitors. The trade-off is that it relies on bank connections like other trackers, introductory prices can rise at renewal, and some features are not available on mobile. It is also less structured than a zero-based method, so it shows the plan and forecast but doesn't require every dollar to be assigned.
Best for: People who want automatic tracking with cash-flow forecasts at a modest yearly price.
