About HomeBank

HomeBank is a personal finance program that one French developer has been building since the late 1990s, first on the Amiga and now on Windows and Linux. You keep your accounts on your own computer, import bank statement files, and HomeBank can assign categories, payees and tags automatically by rule and flag likely duplicates. It handles split categories, transfers between accounts, multiple currencies, scheduled and future transactions, and a simple budget, with filterable reports and charts to see where money goes. Some features are unusual, such as vehicle cost tracking and a 'life energy' view that shows spending in hours of work. It doesn't connect to banks directly, has no mobile app and no cloud sync, which suits people who want their data offline. HomeBank is free software under the GPL, supported by donations and site ads. Official builds are for Windows and Linux; macOS users install it through Homebrew or MacPorts.

Best for: People who want free, offline budgeting and expense tracking on a desktop computer.
