About QuickFile
QuickFile is a UK cloud accounting service for sole traders, small limited companies and charities. It offers invoicing, purchases and receipts, bank feeds and reconciliation, VAT returns under Making Tax Digital, Self Assessment support, a branded client area and reports, and it is completely free as long as your nominal ledger stays under a set number of entries in a rolling 12 months. Above that, a modest yearly fee (plus VAT) unlocks larger accounts. All plans include unlimited users and two-factor authentication. Support is largely community-based through a busy forum rather than phone lines, which suits confident users but not everyone. It runs in the browser. It is UK-only in practice, the interface is functional rather than polished, and accountants may prefer clients on Xero or FreeAgent, but for small UK businesses on a budget it is hard to beat.
Best for: Small UK businesses and sole traders who want free MTD-ready accounting.
