About Sourcegraph Cody

Cody is the AI coding assistant built into Sourcegraph, the code search platform used by large engineering organisations. It offers chat, code completions, edits and reusable prompts in VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio and the Sourcegraph web app, plus a CLI. Its difference is context: it uses Sourcegraph's search to pull in APIs, symbols and usage patterns from local and remote repositories, so answers can draw on code far outside the file you have open. It supports several model providers. Cody is now available only as part of Sourcegraph Enterprise; the free and Pro individual plans were wound down in 2025, and Sourcegraph's agent work moved to Amp, which spun out as a separate company. Enterprise is sold on annual contracts with a high minimum, with single-tenant cloud or self-hosted deployment. It suits large companies that already run Sourcegraph, or need code search and an assistant together across many repositories.

Best for: Large engineering organisations already using Sourcegraph code search.
