About StockCharts

StockCharts.com is a long-running web service for technical analysis. Its SharpCharts workbench builds bar, candlestick, Point & Figure, Renko, Kagi and other charts with stacks of indicators and overlays, and it adds specialist views such as Relative Rotation Graphs, seasonality charts and PerfCharts. Members can save charts into ChartLists, run custom scans, schedule screens and set price or indicator alerts. Coverage spans US, Canadian, UK and Indian stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, indexes, commodities, currencies and crypto. Everything runs in the browser, including on phones, with no software to install. There is a limited free level with a few indicators per chart; paid Basic, Extra and PRO tiers remove ads and raise limits, and official real-time exchange data is an extra monthly add-on. New accounts get a free first month. Alongside the tools it publishes a lot of educational content (ChartSchool, StockCharts TV, member commentary). It suits swing traders and chart-focused investors who prefer classic technical analysis over a social or brokerage-linked platform.

Best for: Swing traders and investors who rely on classic technical charts, scans and alerts.

Why people leave

  • Free level is very limited (3 indicators per chart, ads)
  • Official real-time exchange data costs extra each month
  • Charts refresh every few seconds rather than true streaming
