About Travis CI

Travis CI was the CI service most open-source projects on GitHub used during the 2010s, and it remains available as a hosted service and as Travis CI Server for self-hosting. Builds are configured in a .travis.yml file with language presets, build matrices and stages, and run on Linux, Windows, macOS and FreeBSD, including IBM Power, Z and Arm partner queues that are rare elsewhere. It also supports Perforce and Subversion on its server edition. After its sale in 2019 and the end of unlimited free builds for open source in 2020, many projects moved to GitHub Actions, and it is now a smaller player. Pricing is either usage-based, with monthly credit allowances, or unlimited plans priced by concurrency; open-source projects can request credits. There is currently no free trial plan. It is a hosted web service with a self-hosted enterprise option.

Best for: Projects needing unusual CPU architectures or an existing .travis.yml setup.
