About Fugitive

Fugitive (fugitive.vim) is the best-known Git plugin for Vim and Neovim, written by Tim Pope. Its core is the :Git command, which runs any Git command from inside the editor and opens the results in buffers you can work with: a status summary where you stage, unstage and commit with single keys, a blame view you can step back through history from, side-by-side diffs for staging individual hunks, and a log you can browse. Because everything happens in normal editor buffers, existing Vim skills apply directly, and it pairs well with other plugins for diffs and hosting providers. It is free and distributed under the same terms as Vim itself. It runs anywhere Vim runs, on Linux, macOS and Windows. Fugitive assumes you know Git well; it adds convenience rather than hiding Git's model, so beginners may find a graphical client gentler, and it has no visual branch graph of its own.

Best for: Vim and Neovim users who want Git without leaving the editor.
